"Sawat dee kha. My name is Suphanna Na Lampoon but my relatives and friends call me Tom. I was born on June 4, 1962 in the Utraradit province. I have two brothers and two sisters, and my father is a policeman while my mother is an orchard gardener. I am married and have a son and a daughter, but my husband died in 1997…. My daughter is a jewelry designer and silversmith, also featured in Novica. I studied to be a nurse's assistant for three years and when I got married moved to Chiang Mai, where my husband was stationed as a soldier.
"I started working in the garment industry until my youngest brother asked me to join him in his wood carving workshop. Together we decided to carve decorative from pinewood and guagule wood. We decided to carve items such as trays, tissue boxes, etc.
"Our designs became widely accepted and eventually we were able to offer jobs to unemployed wood carvers. We still work from our home-based workshop, where we constantly try to create new, good-quality products. The idea is to keep creative and abreast of the local and fierce competition. I think you will find that our standards meet the most demanding criteria.
"I would like to thank Novica for giving us the chance to offer our products to a wider clientele. Publicizing my story and our products will surely make people aware of who we are and what we do. I would like to also thank the lovers of arts and crafts around the world – I leave our products here, for you to appreciate. Thank you so much."
